グラントはlisteningを教えました。（chpater4&11）
今回は、skimmingの応用版を学びました。
1分くらいの話を聞いて、3問くらい連続で答える、 ということを行いました。

アレクシスは、readingを教えました。（chapter12）
動名詞、不定詞しか来ない動詞について穴埋めしたあと、
実際に動名詞と不定詞しか使わない文章について学びました。 あつしんを除いて6名の方に参加いただきました。

来週は、初めの予定通り、unit15,22,19,26を行います。余裕がある人は、ざっと目を通して 来てからきてください。初学者の方にも分かりやすく説明しています。

ぜひテキストをご購入の上いらして下さい。

また、グラントとアレクシスは、このTOEICの最終回終了後、3月末にカナダに帰国する予定です。3月20日にはさよならパーティーをする予定です。

Off to a good start2

Atsushinなので、日本語で勘弁してください。
先週土曜日は、第3回のクラスがありました。GrantとAlexisのクラスはとてもいいです。
教科書と同じ教師用教材に基づいて教えてくれているので、わかりやすく、
とても有能で、TOEICの点数はかならず上がると思います。
先週は、本試験を想定してlisteningを30秒程度で答える演習をやりましたが、listeningの問題文を
skimmingというとばし読みする技術を教わり、みなさん時間に余裕をもってlisteningを
答えられるようになったようです。

今度の土曜日は2時から第4回のクラスがあります。またお会いしましょう！
途中からの参加でも大丈夫です。

Off To A Good Start

Well, the first lesson has come and gone. We did units 1 and 8 (Listening) and units 5 and 12 (Reading) of the textbook. We have a lot of material to cover, so we are zooming through the textbook while making sure you are thoroughly prepared for the March 14th TOEIC test.

We look forward to seeing more of you this Saturday (the 16th of January) at 2pm for the 2nd class. Elder Burnham will be teaching this week, as Grant and Alexis will be in Tokyo (poor them, lucky Elder Burnham!)

さて、第一回の授業が終わりました。教科書のunits1と8(listening)と、units5と１２(reading)を学びました。教科書に、たくさんのこなすべき内容があるから、皆さんが３月１４日のTOEICテストに徹底的に備えられるように選別しています。
より多くのみなさんと今週土曜日（１月１６日)の２時に第２回目の授業で会えることを楽しみにしています。バーナム長老が今週教えます。一方グラントとアレクシスは東京にいます。（かわいそうなグラントとアレクシス、ラッキーなバーナム長老）

Introductory Class

After months of planning and preparation, the introductory class finally came. We got there early to set up the room and do some last minute preparations. Good thing, because we had a few difficulties with the overhead projector. It took five people to figure out that we had connected the cable to the out-line instead of the in-line. Good thing we're not paid for our technical expertise. Not that we get paid for anything at all....

数ヶ月の計画と準備の後、紹介会がいよいよ開かれました。私たちが早めに着いて部屋を準備し、最後の支度をしました。それはよかったです。なぜなら、私たちはプロジェクターに少しの問題があったから。ケーブルをLINE-INの代わりにLINE-OUT‘につないでしまっていたことに気づくのに５人を必要としました。私の専門がパソコンだったらあまり稼げなかったと思います。いえ、TOEICの授業を教えることでもお金をもらわないけどね。

The class itself went smoothly, and we were able to get to know one another during class and over a warm cup of hot chocolate afterward.

クラス自体は、スムーズに進み、クラス中、その後温かいホットチョコレートを飲みながらお互い知り合うことができました。

Introductions

Elder Burnham is very smart. Before he came on his mission he taught introductory computer classes. He's the one who designed our flyers. He is also 22 years old and his favorite food is Italian. He looks a little tired in this picture because he had just arrived in Shizuoka. Usually he has a very heartwarming smile.

バーナム長老（写真右）はとても頭のいい人です。宣教師の前は、新入社員にコンピューターを教える仕事をしていて、コンピューターがとても上手で、最近は筋トレもがんばっています。22歳です。イタリア料理が好きです。写真は、教会でのもちつきのときで、楠目長老とポーズをとってくれました。

Grant and Alexis Guenther are from Canada. Grant is an exchange student at Shizuoka University and Alexis teaches English to children. Grant loves to cook, and can make a delicious pizza. Alexis enjoys playing the piano and her favourite composer is Chopin.

ガンター夫妻は、カナダ出身です。グラント（旦那さん）は、静岡の大学で留学生をしています。アレクシス（奥さん）は、子供達に英語を教えています。グラントは料理が好きで、彼のピザはとてもおいしいです。アレクシスの趣味はピアノで、大好きな作曲家はショパンです。

Atsushin is a local church member assisting with both the TOEIC and student classes. He is 29 years old. He is always telling jokes and he has a great sense of humor.

あつしは静岡の教会員で、ＴＯＥＩＣと学生のクラスを助けています。29歳です。いつも冗談を言って、ユーモアがとてもいいです。

There is an introductory class at 2:00pm on the 19th of December at the chapel.
